September 2016
We can create and use a color wheel like a map when making art. We know that primary colors can not be made. We learned that primary colors create secondary colors. We know that complementary colors live across from each other on the color wheel.
October 2016
We learned about color value scales. We know that mixing white into a color makes it lighter. We know mixing black into a color makes it darker. We can paint our own color value scales in many different colors. We can take what we learn and paint a cityscape that shows how well we can use our color theory skills
November/December 2016
We can create a design with radial symmetry.
January
We can identify the characteristics of Amedeo Modigliani's artwork. We can create self-portraits including these characteristics. We can incorporate the patterns of nature in our backgrounds.
We can identify the theme of a painting. We can use repetition and experiment with object placement in a defined space. We are inspired by pop-artist Wayne Thiebaud.
We can build calligraph plates and create one of a kind prints. We learned about artist Joan Miro and drew figures just like him!
April/May
We used paper, paper towel rolls, paint and paper ache to make larger than life art supplies!
June 2017
We learned about artist Terrel Powell and created stacked owls just like he did!
